How does the Age Calculator work?
The Age Calculator computes your exact age from your date of birth to today — or to any target date you specify. Unlike a simple year subtraction, the result shows your age in years, months, and days simultaneously, giving you the precise breakdown needed for medical records, legal documents, insurance applications, or immigration paperwork where the exact number of completed years, months, and days may be specifically required rather than an approximated age.
The calculation correctly accounts for the unequal lengths of calendar months, leap years, and the transition between months of different lengths. For example, the span from January 31 to March 1 is calculated accurately as 1 month and 1 day (or exactly 1 month in a leap year), not simply 29 or 30 days. These edge cases are handled automatically using precise calendar arithmetic, so you always get an accurate result without having to manually count days or account for leap years.
Beyond calculating current age, this tool can determine the time elapsed between any two dates — useful for anniversary countdowns, determining eligibility for age-restricted activities (voting, driving, retirement benefits), checking whether a deadline has passed, or simply finding out how many days you have been alive. All calculations happen entirely within your browser using JavaScript; your date of birth and any other inputs are never transmitted to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party.
